Chelation isn't the only type of Biomedical intervention. Our son suffered an autistic regression at 18 months. We intervened immediately with nutritional intervention (GFCF soy free) allergy testing, probiotics and enzymes, vitamins. He is not only better, he is precocious. Last week at 2.5, a year after he became ill, he said "look mom, a picture of a broom" as he pointed at street sign which had a picture of a broom. It is quite a miracle. It is a ton of work to have an organic homemade GFCF soy free home, but worth every moment I spend giving him everything he needs to be healthy. We never did chelation. I researched the vitamins on the internet and checked them with several doctors. I am still checking with nutritionists, holistic doctors. But don't throw out all biomedical intervention just because chelation is scary. There is a lot of info out there on other more benign as my husband says "can't hurt--might help" stuff.

Kristina Chew posted on this same topic on her blog - Autism Vox. She has such a wonderful way with words that I wanted to post the link here for anyone that may be interested in reading more about this topic. http://www.autismvox.com/soft-pedaling-on-heavy-metal-treatment/
