In my Google alert for ADHD there was a post by a mom detailing her experience trying to find a pediatrician for her daughter who was recently diagnosed with ADHD. Reading her post leaves me wondering if the black box warning label on most (if not all) ADHD medication has caused pediatricians to steer away from accepting these children as clients.
Read crazymamasusan’s post on her blog: Doctors Refuse to Accept ADHD Patients.
I’d love to hear what others think of this. I’m going to spend some time this evening and see if I can dig anything up on the topic.

If you need a doctor to help with the ADHD, look into to the local universities. There are many amazing programs for children with social/behavioral problems at a very low cost. They are overseen by published professors/psychologists. As far as regular pediatricians, insurance companies are making them into bad guys. take the other blogger’s advice and exclude that information when making the appointment. If pre-diagnosed the insurance companies are also famous for refusing to pay for any medication if it was a “pre-existing” condition as is the case with a lot of my daughter’s allergy medicine.. which three years later we’re finding out has caused a lot of her anxiety issues.. Doctors and Insurance Companies – a love hate relationship.
Gee Whiz, just realized this post is three years old. sorry!
